Maarten Kal
I work freelance as a documentary and corporate filmmaker. This site is meant to give a broad overview of my past and current work.
Current Projects
- Since 2009, I directed and filmed about 70 assigned films for clients like ING Bank, Delta Lloyd, Abbott, City of Amsterdam, Fairtransport Shipbrokers, KPN Rabobank, and several others. Usually I am assigned through production companies like OneCamera, Feller Media or DDMC, but I also produce directly video's for several companies.
- As a director, I am working on a documentary; How Captain Longhair saved the world. Also I do camera (Canon 5D mark II) for two documentary films from other directors.
Education
- Master Journalism and Media, University of Amsterdam
- IDFAcademy, Amsterdam
- Minor Visual Studies, University of Toronto
- Minor Visual Ethnography, University of Leiden
- Bachelor Culturele Antropologie, University of Amsterdam

Equipment
I work with a Canon 5D photo/video camera with lenses, light and rigging. Usually I prefer to work in small teams of two or three people. I usually do editing of my own work, also post-production and color grading.
Maarten is a born filmmaker, thinking in film, living the film. He is a dedicated professional making his story full of soul. He knows how to do it all by himself, but can also work together and get the job done. I think you schould let him follow his heart and you get a product that is best for all.
